How are payments processed?

Information below this line only applies to Marketplace product orders. Marketplace products are no longer being sold, effective June 1, 2022.

Payment transactions may be processed up to 12 hours after you purchase an order. If you purchase multiple orders within that time frame, they may be combined into a single charge called a batch.*

Charges from the Tophatter platform appear on your bank or PayPal statements with the reference  TOPHATT*.

  • If the charge relates to an individual order, TOPHATT* will be followed by the Order number.
  • If the charge includes multiple orders, TOPHATT* will be followed by the word "batch" and the batch ID number.

To view all the payments included in a batch:

  1. Visit My Orders and click View Details next to the order.
  2. On the invoice under the Total amount of that order, you'll see a Combined Total button if the payment transaction included multiple orders.
  3. Click that button to view all the orders included in that payment, and the total amount of each.

*At this time, each order must be processed individually when paying through PayPal.

*Once an order has been processed to a Paid status, the payment method or any credits applied can not be modified

  • Date of the charge
  • Amount of the charge 
  • If you paid with credit/debit card: last 4 digits of the card number and the card type (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express)
  • If you paid with PayPal: the PayPal email address you use to sign into your PayPal account
